Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful mother! Today is my mom's birthday and I am so lucky to be able to call my mom one of my best friends. She has always inspired me to be a better person, to do more for others, to have more faith, to exercise more, to decorate more (sorry Nick!), to dream more and to love more. While most people are afraid that they will eventually turn into their mothers, Nick likes to joke that turning into my mom is my dream come true! 


While we are not exactly alike, I know that so many of my passions and my beliefs come from being my mother's daughter.  I know that I would never have moved across the country and joined Teach for America, if it hadn't been for my mom's enthusiasm and faith that I would succeed. 

My mom seems to have an endless supply of energy. She runs and trains for races regularly, volunteers and plays an active part in a social justice group, participates in a writing group, works full time, is constantly completing some sewing or decor project, and is the mother to my three siblings and me. She is an amazing woman! 

My mom is definitely the glue that holds our little family together. I'm so blessed to have her in my life (and only 15 miles away!)
