Back to school, back to school...

This is my first week back to work after a busy, busy holiday break. Luckily, my kids are making the transition pretty smooth; they have been behaving well and came back to school with lots of enthusiasm to learn. It also helps that they say adorable things every few minutes... Today we were learning the /d/ sound and I showed my students pictures of a d words, including a dress.

I asked my class (all boys) who wears dresses. They all told me that "girls wear dresses, not boys." Then one of my students raised his hand and said, "Princesses wear dresses. My sister is a princess. But my dad? My dad's a ghost."

He left it at that and went on to a different topic, with no explanation. (At this point, I should explain, his dad is very much alive and well). This is also the boy that calls himself Spiderman...
