Lovely Little Christmas Vignettes

As promised, I am going to show you some more of our rustic-glam holiday decor. We still don't have our Christmas tree, but there are plenty of little vignettes to share from our home. My most favorite one is the centerpiece for our dining room table. This was the catalyst for the entire "rustic-glam" theme we have going on this year. Plus, I love it even more because it was handmade for me by my hubby and father-in-law. 

(Reason 1,056,378 I love my husband: he created my rustic barnwood-esque box from a rough sketch on the back of a receipt and an old fence post found in The Room of Requirement- where else?!)
After Nick and Bob built my box, I added some moss ($5 from Michael's), mini pinecones, and some gold and silver ornaments. I used off-white pillars and tapers that I already owned. Hence, my entire centerpiece came to a grand total of $5! As for my table runner, I layered a strip of white linen over burlap.

If you're sensing that this centerpiece is a little too rustic for your tastes, let's head over to our kitchen table, where its all glam, all the time.

Here, I used my vintage blue glass cake plate and my apothecary jar to ground my centerpiece. I loaded the cake stand with silver and gold ornaments, some fake pearls (from Michael's) and a potted plant. In the apothecary jar, I used more ornaments and some green vase filler. I used a yard of shimmery fabric as a runner on this table.

Here are our PB floating shelves, where we usually hang our stockings. On most of the mirrors in our home, I hung our Dollar Store snowflakes.

We have another set of floating shelves located on the wall behind our TV. On these ones, I propped an empty vintage frame (thrift store find) and hung more snowflakes from it. Since it was a little hard to see the white-on-white, I taped a short strand of battery-operated lights around the inside of the frame, to give it a twinkling look.

This last little vignette is our window that faces the street. Because we live in an apartment, we can't put any Christmas lights on the exterior of our home, so these guys serve as a stand-in. (As my dad would say, "How can it be Christmas without Christmas lights?!") I draped Christmas-light wrapped garland  over the curtain rod and put a homemade wreath in the middle of the window. It's fun to look up and see this window from the street.
