something borrowed, something blue

My parents moved a couple of weeks ago and downsized some of their furniture. We were the lucky recipients of a handmade shelf from my dad. I had a vague idea of a bookshelf or some other big piece of furniture along the back wall of our dining room. This one fit the bill perfectly. It's a big piece that has plenty of storage. I thought that I would want to repaint it as soon as we got it, thinking that the blue wasn't quite right. However, once we got it into the space, both Nick and I really liked the pale blue.
One thing leads to another and I decided the bright turquoise dresser that lived in our dining room needed a makeover. There were too many blues, and the turquoise that fit in so well in our old apartment felt jarring in this new house. So, I mixed up some white and gray paint to create a very pale gray color (almost white, but not quite).
Lastly, my parents also gave us their round pedestal table. It's very similar to our old round table. The biggest change between this table and our old one is that this one has a pedestal and the old one had four legs. I prefer the pedestal because we can fit more than just four chairs around this table.
So, that's all the major dining room changes in the last month. Here's what it looked like when we just moved in:
And now:

 progress....
