splurge

As you know, we do most things on the cheap around here; almost everything in our home is second-hand, repurposed, or homemade. However, once in a while, Nick and I both agree it's better to splurge. Usually this is on items that we want to last us a long time, or things that we know will get a lot of use.
Last week we splurged on glasses from my favorite store.
When we got married, we registered for a box set of glasses from Target. While they were pretty and matched our dishes well, they definitely had a cheap quality to them. For example, you could see seams in the glasses and the glass was thin and would crack easily. After three years, we were down several glasses and certainly didn't have a full set.
So I kept my eye out for replacements and found these for $8 a glass.
The tumblers are made from recycled bottles and have a slight blueish-greenish tint to the glass.
They are slightly irregular in size, which I actually like. They also go nicely with our smaller green glasses (from PB a couple years ago).
What do you think? Are you a splurger or a saver?

  1. I'm a splurger AND a Saver - is that possible?! I love Antropologie too, we live right by 4th Street so I can walk there - dangerous :). I always enjoy your blog!

  2. Very dangerous! I don't think I'd have the willpower to live so close! And yes, I understand being a little of both, I think we're that way too!
